“Combed out Twist Out”

There are times when I just want to let Olivia’s hair be free, but lets say I didn’t twist her hair the night before to pull off a “twist out” for the next day. This is when I do a “Combed out Twist Out” and top it with a little bow. I’ll do tight twists in the morning and leave them in until we get to our destination. After untwisting her hair, I’ll then comb it out for a more poofy look. You can’t go wrong with this hairstyle for your little natural haired beauty. Make sure it is well moisturized. On this day, I used 100% Pure Vegetable Glycerin & some good Ole’ Blue Magic to moisturize her scalp (don’t overdo it).

Maternity Style + Denim

I don’t consider myself a fashionista..but I do have a love for fashion and enjoy following the latest trends (does that make sense?) lol..
Lately, its been interesting trying to style my bump yet super fun at the same time.
Last week was my little sister’s birthday dinner before she headed back to college.
…but what is a dinner without a theme? The theme that night was denim 🙂
I’m a fan of denim. You can put it with anything and still be stylish.
Here is how i styled myself, my bump & my Olivia!

Outfit Details

-Denim Dress: Baby Gap
-Black Tights: The Childrens Place
-Clear Jellies Shoes: Target

My Current Pregnany Favorites #March2014

I wanted to share some of my current pregnancy favorites! These are just 5 of the many things that help me make it throughout my day 🙂

1) Old Navy Casual Shoes

-Lets face it, every pregnant woman has those everyday shoes that we love and are the most comfortable. They go with everything and accommodate to our growing feet/ankles 🙂

I purchased these shoes at Old Navy back in November 2013…for 9 bucks! They are super comfy and I’ve been wearing them since my first trimester.

1st Trimester..when my “bump” was just a “buldge” 🙂

I still love and wear these shoes…they go with shorts, jeans, dresses, yoga pants & my current favorite, leggings!

2) My Beloved 1 Liter H20 Bottle

This water bottle goes with me EVERYWHERE! I make sure of it. Ice cold water helps keeps me hydrated and helps keep that fun pregnancy nausea on a low scale. I just fill it up with ice, water and go!
1 bottle = 1 Liter
Purchased from: Family Dollar for $3.00

I drink about 2 of these per day.  Drinking water during pregnancy is so important for mommy & baby 🙂

3) My Bob!

Although I love long locks, I have given them up for now and have been proudly rocking a bob lately!
It feels so good to not have a lot of hair down my back right now because my rising hormones makes my core body temperature a lot warmer than usual. What I’m really trying to say is that, I’M ALWAYS HOT! Sometimes I want to just sit down in a walk-in freezer, and just….sit…lol.
The bob is a different look for me and i actually love it. Its super easy to maintain 🙂

4) Olive Oil

I use Olive Oil for so many things, but lately I’ve also been using it for Oil Pulling. I’m not sure if its a mind thing or if it really works!
After doing much research, im just going to share the benefits of oil pulling that caught my eye:
-Reduced swelling
-Detox of harmful chemicals in the body
-Relieves Constipation
-Gives energy
-Clears Skin
-Improves Vision
-Whitens Teeth
-Reduces Plaque
-Freshens Breath
-Relieves pain
-Relieves Stress
-Relieves Heartburn
…there are many more benefits of oil pulling, but these are the ones that really caught my attention and I love it so far 🙂
If you have no clue of what I’m talking about, here is a rundown on how to Oil Pull:
“Rinse the mouth with approximately one tablespoon of oil for 5–15 minutes (on an empty stomach) before eating/drinking in the morning, then spit it out and wash the teeth, gums, tongue (softly) and palate thoroughly. Cold pressed (raw) oil is often said to be critical to the alleged effectiveness.Sesame oilcoconut oil and ghee are traditionally used, but newer oils such assunflower oil and olive oil are recommended by some practitioners. Oil pulling is usually recommended to be done first thing in the morning, followed by rinsing the mouth with (sea salt) salt water and then brushing the teeth in a normal morning routine. It is important to ensure that one does not ingest the oil, and completely eliminates it by spitting out the oil after use.” -Wikipedia.com
..do your own research before you try…some may think it’s weird, but I like trying natural remedies. Sometimes I think I was somewhat of a hippie in my past life lol!

5) Prune Juice

-Yuck! BUT, I make a prune juice and strawberry smoothie every morning to help relieve my pregnancy constipation. TMI? Oh well 😉

4oz Prune Juice

3 Frozen Strawberries
& enjoy!
…simple 🙂
This wraps up my March 2014 Pregnancy Favorites. I’ll be updating my current pregnancy favorites monthly until baby boy arrives! Let the countdown begin!

Sweet & Tangy Fruit Smoothie

How weird is it that I crave sweet, cold, thick fruit smoothies at night? I think the best way to mix these are to mix to your liking. Lately, blackberries have been my fruit of choice, so it was a must that I threw a few in this late night smoothie mix fix 🙂

Below are a list of ingredients that I used for this smoothie:

You know its a hit if your little one loves it!
Whats your favorite smoothie mix? I’d love to hear 🙂
Happy Friday!

Back on Track

The holiday season always gets me!

Whatever “diet” or “clean eating” habit my husband & I developed  during the year goes out the window come Thanksgiving & beyond. To put it in simple terms, we LOVE food (a little too much) lol.
So sad…
Well, we are back on it lol. Better late than never. We started off the week in the gym and also did a serious juice cleanse and I must say, im glad we did it.
Gosh, i feel so much better and a lot less sluggish…
I definitely want to do better with my eating habits for more reasons than one.
Below is a Green Juice recipe that I made the other day. Its very simple & yummers:

Ingredients (for 24oz):

-Kale (4 sticks)

-Cucumber (1 whole)
-Green Apple (1 whole)
-Pear (1 whole)
I like juicing with Cucumbers not only because they are infused with tons of liquid…but because they are very hydrating. I’m the type that is always thirsty….I soak up fluids like a sponge. I’m always drinking something (water, juice..etc)..and nowadays, my thirst level is through the roof! After juicing with cucumbers, its hydrating effects leave me feeling not so thirsty anymore, in return curbing my craving for sweet, calorie filled juices.

More reasons I drink Cucumber Juice:

-It decreases puffiness & dark circles under & around your eyes
-It aids in skin repair inside & out
-It has antioxidants great for your blood
-It aids in digestion
…look, as long as there are beauty benefits, I’m all in! 😉
Happy Thursday loves.
